Claire & Lee @ Friern Manor

These two booked me because of one image I shot donkeys years ago at another wedding. It was a light painting picture. Something I used to do a lot of when I was starting out. For those who don’t know – it’s done by using a light source and a long exposure – usually at night. My early light painting “works of art” featured my friends standing very still in various poses whilst I (or someone else) ‘drew’ something behind them. My most “famous” was of my friend Aidan whilst we drew angel wings and a halo behind him – that’s going back to the old DeviantART days. ANYWAY! C&L booked me off a 2018 attempt at light painting at a wedding – which was ‘just’ squiggly lines painted using the torches on mine and my assistants phones and the camera set on timer.
I decided to treat myself to a new light painting toy – basically a colour changing light sabre – to use at C&L’s wedding. Oooo it was fun! C&L were super patient whilst we ran around them waving this giant light stick around – even if it was 10pm (dark enough that we could do a long exposure!)

It was also super nice being back at Friern Manor and wow! They’ve been busy during the pandemic! Loads of new features in the gardens – a photographer dream! I do love just how tidy and fresh everything is there, plus the big trees casting some much needed shade in this heat!
